Major national certified swine producer with an excellent reputation for quality and promoting animal welfare is seeking a business oriented Reproductive Farm Manager to oversee their operation located in Eastern Nebraska.  Positions open due to acquisition.

  • Your job is to manage the day-to-day operations and the overall business of a large sow farm of 5100 sows
Duties will include:
  • 60% of your time will be spent in the barn supervising the department heads
    • One overseeing reproduction
    • The other overseeing farrowing and a staff of 20 to 30 individuals.
    • This barn is manned 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
  • 40% your time is paperwork and analysis.
    • You will be tracking and reporting on the appropriate metrics
    • You are also responsible for the business of that site. 
  • This position reports to a VP or member of the family
To be considered for this role:

You must have 5 years of swine production or management experience within a commercial swine operation
Experience must include all aspects of a swine operation including:
  • Size:  Should have experience with a minimum of 3200 head of sows and supervising at least 15 people.
  • Technical: Proper Pig Production Practices; General Animal Husbandry; Bio-Security & Safety; Pig Flow; Nutrition; Treatment; Environmental and PQA & TQA.
  • Environment:  Will be adept at recognizing changes in conditions - knowledgeable in filtration (hepa) and ventilation systems and control systems.
  • Business: You will track your appropriate metrics (using industry recognized software) and be responsible for the business of running your farm while reporting to the VP/family member.
  • Production: You will use your expertise to implement action plans to achieve stated goals by Planning & Directing all Production Phases & Required Processes while maintaining strict adherence to protocols. Also be able to demonstrate your ability to manage priorities in a fast paced changing environment.
  • Employee: You will provide daily leadership to your staff and engage with your team in timely orientation; training & development when necessary all while promoting a safe and professional work place. You will demonstrate your high level of professionalism and confidentiality when exercising your problem solving skills and while managing confrontational situations.
  • Cost: You will constantly assist the company in managing costs in the areas of labor resources; feed; medication inventory and supplies
